Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa)

Description

The Broad-bodied chaser has a body length of 39 to 48 mm with a wingspan of 66 to 78 mm.

The abdomen is very flat and broad. The thorax has light-coloured antehumeral stripes. The eyes of the Broad-bodied chaser are brown. Its rear wings have a dark base.

The abdomen of the male is blue with yellow lateral stripes.

The female is yellow-brown and has yellow spots on the segments S3 to S8. 

Hunting type

At sunny waters, the Broad-bodied Chaser is a hunter in a hide, but flies a lot.

Habitat

The Broad-bodied chaser almost all types of water. It prefers shallow, well-sunlit waters with a pioneer character.
